Kleve, February 18, 2000. Spectro Analytical instruments announced the receipt of a series of purchase orders to supply the Corus Engineering Steels division of the Corus group, located in the United Kingdom, 21 portable optical emission spectrometers.

The Corus group, formed in 1999, is the result of the merger between British Steel and Koninklijke Hoogovens. Corus Engineering steel produces a full range of stainless, alloy, freecutting and carbon steel types in products from small bars, hexagons and flats through to large blooms and slabs.

The instruments, which will be placed at various facilities throughout the UK, will be used primarily for out-going product quality control. Utilizing Optical Emission technology, the portable spectrometers can measure and determine the concentration of all critical chemical elements contained in virtually all common grades of metals, allowing 100% quality control of outgoing metal and the prevention of a possible product mix-up.

Tom Blades, Spectro's CEO commented "This purchase order underlines the good working relationship that we have with Corus and our mutual commitment to a long-term relationship."

Spectro Analytical Instruments designs, manufactures and markets, state of the art spectrometers and process control solutions for a wide range of customers and applications. Since its founding 20 years ago, Spectro has developed internationally into the industry innovator in Optical Emission and XRF spectroscopy with more than 14,000 instruments installed world-wide.
