Kurz: ICP-15: The SPECTRO CIROS CCD was evaluated for the multielement-analysis of soils and sewage sludges by ICP-OES. Sample preparation was performed according to the German standard DIN 38414. The accuracy was investigated using the standard reference materials CRM 141 R, CRM 143 R and GSD 11. The CIROS shows excellent performance in the rapid, accurate and precise determination of trace metals in soils and sewage sludges. Spectral interferences from As 228.812 nm on Cd 228.802 nm in soils with high As concentrations were overcome by applying interelement correction, automatically performed by the instrument software. Recoveries for Cd and As in the reference material GSD 11 were excellent, even though the As concentration is a factor 80 higher than the Cd concentration.
