X-ray fluorescence spectrometers have long been used for the analysis of sintered metals. New challenges are developing for DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering), or so-called 3D metal printing. This technology is of considerable interest, for example, in the aerospace industry, the automotive sector, dentistry and medicine and for “rapid prototyping.” The SPECTRO XEPOS and SPECTROSCOUT X-ray fluorescence spectrometers are outstandingly suited for the analysis of powders and sintered metals and thus, also for the analysis of powders used for DMLS. The elemental compositions of products manufactured with the DMLS technology can also be examined.
